external reviews
Brilliant.
New York Times Book Review
As a soft and seductive lover, Allende provokes, entices and excites with fascinating stories
Washington Post
Allende portrays the point of view of a woman with confidence, control and conception of love as basic to life
Time
clearly shows that Allende has enjoyed developing rich passages that do not particularly advance history but reaffirmed his constant discovery. Each of the characters is something different from what I was looking for. With this novel, might not be said for readers who enjoy
Allende
